The View faces backlash after calling for Tulsi Gabbard’s arrest
The cohosts of The View sparked outrage Monday after they called for the arrest of former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard for her remarks on Ukraine.
As reported by Frontline News, Gabbard said on Sunday that there are 35-40 U.S.-funded biolabs in Ukraine and warned that there could be potentially dangerous fallout if those labs were targeted amid the Russia-Ukraine war.
Gabbard provided evidence yesterday to support her claim, but not before being denounced by the mainstream media as a “conspiracy theorist” and “Russian asset” for suggesting that the United States government is connected to bio research labs in Ukraine.
The hosts of The View were no different.
“...I think DOJ in the same way that it is setting up a task force to investigate oligarchs should look into people who are Russian propagandists and shilling for Putin, that’s being if you are a foreign asset to a dictator, it should be investigated,” said co-host Ana Navarro.
Navarro then denigrated Gabbard before accusing her of parroting Russian propaganda.
“In fact, I remember when Tulsi Gabbard, and I even hate that we’re discussing it because I think to myself, who was this woman? She’s a, you know, she’s no longer in Congress. She’s a failed presidential candidate. She only practically exists on Twitter. And the fact that we’re giving her oxygen is what makes her relevant, that we’re talking about her on our topics. But on the other hand, how do you not call out something that is repeating false Russian propaganda that has been brought down?”
Cohost Whoopi Goldberg took it a step further by suggesting Gabbard be arrested and investigated.
“They used to arrest people for doing stuff like this, if they thought you were colluding with a Russian agent, if they thought you were putting out information or taking information and handing over to Russia,” said Goldberg.
“They used to actually investigate stuff like this,” she continued. “And I guess now, you know, there seems to be no bars and people are not being told to hate Putin. Putin doesn’t need a reason to be hated. It’s pretty much clear.”
Social media pointed out the clear assault on free speech.
“This is so deranged. The View calling for Tucker and Tulsi to be investigated by DOJ and suggest prison,” tweeted Watchdog.
“This is just crazy. Whoopi basically endorses McCarthyism here,” said Mark Hemingway.
“Whoopi basically just called for @TulsiGabbard to be arrested,” wrote Rubin Report host Dave Rubin. “Every single woman at this table should be ashamed of themselves.”
“The View wants to imprison Tulsi for being a Russian asset,” tweeted Max Abrahms. “They don’t think punishments are severe enough in America for unpopular political positions. This is the legacy of Russiagate.”
“The Left is always thinking up reasons to jail their political opponents,” said Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch.
“Keep going, libs. See what you get,” chimed in political commentator Dave Reaboi.
Frontline News reported yesterday that Gabbard shot back at Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) after he said that “her treasonous lies may cost lives.”
Gabbard posted several tweets listing six different sources to support her claim regarding U.S.-funded biolabs in Ukraine.
For her grand finale, Gabbard demanded Romney’s resignation.
“So, Senator Romney, you have a choice: out of pride, continue to deny the truth or admit you are wrong, apologize, and resign. Aloha. And remember that without the truth, we can be neither safe nor free.”
