Superstar reluctant to discuss cause of sudden health scare ‘on camera’

Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx opened up about a sudden medical emergency he suffered in April last year, though he refused to reveal the cause on camera.

‘I won’t say it on camera’

Foxx told a small group in downtown Phoenix recently that his mysterious ailment, which drew headlines when he was hospitalized, began with a headache.

“April of last year, I had a bad headache,” Foxx said. “I asked my boy for an Advil.” With a snap of his fingers, the actor added: “I was gone for 20 days. I don’t remember anything.”

His sister and daughter took him to a doctor who administered a cortisone shot.

“Next doctor said, ‘Something is going on up there,’” he added, pointing to his head.

“I won’t say it on camera. Yeah, I don’t want to say it on camera,” said the 56-year-old actor.

Caused by the COVID-19 vaccine?

Foxx’s undisclosed condition sparked media attention last year as his friends and family remained tight-lipped about his diagnosis. At the time, news reports indicated the actor was admitted to a rehabilitation center for patients who have suffered strokes, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, or cancer.

Dr. Peter McCullough, an associate of Foxx’s who is known as one of the most cited cardiologists in the world, suggested Foxx suffered a stroke caused by the COVID-19 vaccine.

“He must have had a significant stroke or complications,” Dr. McCullough told Dr. Drew Pinsky and Dr. Kelly Victory on Ask Dr. Drew. “I know Jamie, he took pictures with me. We had a private conversation about COVID, the risks and what have you. So he’s going to have to have his own way to communicate a personal health crisis with the public.”

“He's a great guy, I really respect him. Terrific actor,” the cardiologist continued. “We wish him the best, but you know, stroke in a young person again raises concerns because the vaccines are associated with stroke.”

He cited a study published in June 2022 which found an increased risk of cerebrovascular disease, such as strokes, and coagulation disorders involving low platelet counts in the 28 days following the Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccines.

‘He was pressured to get it’

Journalist AJ Benza said he was told by a source in Foxx’s hospital room that the actor suffered a stroke following the COVID-19 vaccine, which he took under protest.

"Jamie had a blood clot in his brain after he got the shot. He did not want the shot, but the movie he was on, he was pressured to get it," Benza told Dr. Drew. "The blood clot in the brain caused him at that point to be partially paralyzed and blind."
