Sesame Street hides responses to ‘Vaccinate Me Elmo’

Sesame Street began hiding responses to its latest episode which has three-and-a-half-year-old Elmo getting vaccinated and urging children to get the shots along with his “dad”, Louie. The PSA comes two weeks after the FDA approved the COVID-19 shot for children 6 months-4-years-old.

“There was a little pinch, but that was OK,” Elmo says. “Elmo was really glad to have daddy and baby David there with him.” Elmo’s dad Louie tells his son, “You were super-duper today getting your COVID vaccine, Elmo.”

"Was it safe? Was it the right decision? I talked to our pediatrician so I could make the right choice," Louie said in the PSA. "I learned that Elmo getting vaccinated is the best way to keep himself, our friends, neighbors and everyone else healthy and enjoying the things they love."

But when Sesame Street posted the clip to Twitter, responses started rolling in that caused the classic kids’ show to hide them.

In one tweet, a user posted a mock Sesame Street poster featuring Elmo with a puppet doctor and the caption “Elmo’s First Heart Attack”.

“Sudden Muppet Death Syndrome,” wrote another user above a mock “Breaking News” flash. The chyron reads, “Elmo dies unexpectedly.” The tweet was referring to Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS), an “inexplicable” new phenomenon killing droves of young, healthy people.

“When is the episode where Louie is hospitalized with myocarditis?”

“Todays episode of Sesame Street is brought to you by Pfizer.”

“Just when I thought Elmo's heart couldn't get any bigger.”

“Next weeks episode: Elmo got twerked on by drag and is now changing pronouns to elma and elmeth.”

“We live in a world today where it's not safe for our children to watch Sesame Street.”

“Elmo has a greater chance of being hit by a car on Sesame Street than being impacted by COVID. But let me guess who funds these ‘arts’.”

Satire publication The Babylon Bee – though suspended from Twitter for its political views – published an article headlined, “Elmo Dies Of Myocarditis After Receiving COVID Vaccine.”

"Elmo not feeling so good," Elmo reportedly said just moments before collapsing.

Officials concluded the cause of death to be "unknown" although medical examiners claim he died of massive heart failure due to Myocarditis - a disease almost never observed in 3-year-olds like Elmo.

"It's important to remember that our friend Elmo's death had nothing to do with the COVID vaccine, which is safe and effective," said Big Bird to reporters. "There is growing evidence that Myocarditis is caused by climate change. That's why you need to eat bugs and stop using SUVs, kids!"
