‘Hallmark of Mao’: Son who turned in father for J6 rakes in $200,000
A Texas man who turned his father in to authorities for being present at the Capitol on January 6th has been rewarded with an almost $200,000 payout.
Jackson Reffitt, pictured above, was 18 years old in December 2020 when he first snitched on his father, Guy Reffitt. The Leftist youth submitted an online report to the FBI warning them that his father “was going to do something big.”
Guy had brought a gun with him to the rally but did not enter the Capitol and was not violent. He reportedly spent 44 minutes on a staircase outside the Capitol building.
When he returned from Washington, DC after January 6th, his son secretly recorded him discussing the events at the Capitol rally and turned the recordings over to the FBI. Days later, on January 16, 2021, FBI agents raided the Reffit house and arrested Guy. In August 2022, he was sentenced to over seven years in prison with an additional three years of supervised release.
Four days after the FBI raid, Jackson went on CNN to boast about his actions. Then-CNN host Chris Cuomo praised the youth for informing on his father. Over the next three years, other media outlets like The Washington Post and The Daily Beast showered Jackson with attention and praise.
Four days after the FBI raid, the young man created a GoFundMe campaign for himself. It has since raised $195,553.
Informant blames Trump
On his GoFundMe campaign page, Jackson wrote that “every penny is another course in college or me saving it for years to come.”
On February 14, 2022, Jackson wrote: “Hey everyone! Trial looming closer and barely any sleep i’m terrified but very excited as well. Spending a few weeks in DC, please let me know if there is anything i should visit, read, or watch to keep myself busy!”
Jackson has not expressed any regret for informing on his father. In an interview this week with The Daily Beast, the young man blamed President Donald Trump.
“Trump destroyed my whole family,” he said. “Without Trump, my family would still be together. I 100 percent guarantee you. It was a perfect family, until 2016 and onwards. It spiraled and polarized and it splintered. It was all due to the president.”
‘Classic Communist behavior’
Some commentators have noted that Jackson’s actions and reward are straight out of the Marxist playbook, The Daily Wire reported.
Xi Van Fleet, who escaped Communist China, said the saga bears a strong resemblance to Chinese culture under former Marxist dictator Mao Zedong:
“Family members turning against each other was the hallmark of Mao’s Cultural Revolution. Now it is in America,” Van Fleet said.
Marxism scholar James Lindsay added that Jackson exhibited “classic Communist behavior. Brainwashed against his family then externalizes and misdirects the blame against the object of political hatred.”
DHS considered using public health to encourage family snitching
The federal government has been a strong proponent of family members informing on each other. Recently released documents show that a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) advisory board brainstormed about how to encourage mothers to snitch on their children.
In a September 2023 meeting of the Homeland Intelligence Experts Group, whose members included former CIA Director John Brennan and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, attendees sought to answer the question: “How do people safely report a concern about their neighbors?”
One strategy that was proposed was to package political dissent as a public health issue, which they hoped would result in teachers reporting their students and parents reporting their children to the government.
“To get a mother or teacher to come forward, it needs to be a public health catcher’s mitt,” suggested a member.
The DHS has also designed tutorial videos urging citizens to confront and snitch on their fellow Americans who harbor conservative views.
