Government pays billions in fraudulent social security annually, DOGE finds

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has been paying over $100 billion annually to deceased people, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has found.

On Sunday night, Trump Senior Adviser Elon Musk tweeted a breakdown of age groups currently receiving social security payments based on DOGE’s findings.

“According to the Social Security database, these are the numbers of people in each age bucket with the ‘death’ field set to FALSE. Maybe Twilight is real, and there are a lot of vampires collecting Social Security,” Musk wrote.

Musk's spreadsheet showed that roughly 20,800,000 people over 100 are receiving social security payments, though official estimates say there are just 101,000 living Americans over 100 and 136 over 110. Assuming an average social security payment of $1,800, this means the federal government has been paying approximately $245 billion in taxpayer funds to deceased Americans.

Media silent about Democrat-run fraud operation

The scandal is considered one of the biggest financial frauds in history, though legacy media have yet to cover it. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told Sean Hannity on Fox News that mainstream media corporations have been “fearmongering” and telling the American public that Musk and DOGE will cancel their social security payments.

“If you paid into the system honestly, you will continue to receive your social security checks. Do not buy into the lies from the legacy fake news media who are trying to fear you and scare you into believing otherwise,” said Leavitt, who added that DOGE has not yet concluded its investigation.

On X, Musk shared his theory about what is behind the fraudulent operation.

“The REAL reason so many Democrats are upset about entitlements (social security, medical, etc) fraud investigations is that they are using your taxpayer money as handouts to attract and retain ILLEGAL immigrants. Their future voters. That’s what it’s all about. Truth,” the billionaire said.

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller said social security fraud is perpetrated by foreign fraud rings who use false identification to obtain entitlements.

The day before the scandal broke, Michelle King resigned from her post as social security administrator. Media reports claim King’s resignation was related to her refusal to provide DOGE employees with data. Trump immediately nominated Frank Bisignano to replace her. Meanwhile, White House spokesman Harrison Fields said the SSA acting commissioner will be a “career Social Security anti-fraud expert.”
