Energy secretary dismisses ‘climate crisis’

Last week, Energy Secretary Chris Wright dismissed the widely adopted false narrative that the world is in imminent mortal peril from “climate change.”
“Everything in life has tradeoffs, but a warmer planet with CO2 is better for growing plants. The world has been getting greener for decades – 14% more greenery around the planet today than there was 40 years ago,” Wright told Fox Business on Wednesday, adding that “far more people die of the cold than die of the heat.”
“Everything has a tradeoff, but, yeah, there’s pluses to global warming as well as negatives. But the bottom line is it’s nowhere near the world’s biggest problem today, not even close,” he asserted.
No longer an ‘existential threat’
Despite the Left’s regular predictions of armageddon, deaths from natural disasters are at record lows. Nevertheless, the Biden administration adopted climate hysteria as official US policy, declaring climate change “an existential threat” and considering it a national emergency akin to COVID-19. In 2022, the Federal Reserve conducted a “climate scenario” simulation with six of the country’s largest banks to manage “climate-related financial risks.” Biden Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said climate change is a military matter, as it can “force” the military to intervene in climate-fueled conflicts and other situations. US Army Secretary Christine Wormuth said the Army would make the “war against climate change” a priority. Former US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry fretted that the Russia-Ukraine war may distract the public from fearing the “climate crisis.”
Plans to block the sun
In 2023, the Biden administration joined the European Union in drafting plans to block sunlight from reaching the Earth’s surface to combat climate change. While the White House acknowledged the dangers of blocking the sun, such as harming immune systems and reducing food supplies, it said those dangers must be weighed against the hazards of climate change.
A climate cash cow
During a speech in Brazil last year, then-Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen called on Western nations to fork over $3 trillion a year until 2050 in “climate financing” to achieve Net Zero global carbon emission. Yellen stressed that Net Zero was a “top priority” for the Biden administration, whose Inflation Reduction Act diverted hundreds of billions of dollars to the federal government’s climate agenda.
Car mandates
Under Biden, the Department of Transportation (USDOT) aimed to phase out private car ownership to supposedly fight racism and climate change. While that goal was not reached, the Biden administration succeeded in forcing carmakers to reduce gas-powered cars and manufacture electric vehicles. The EV mandate nearly collapsed the auto industry due to low consumer demand.
School indoctrination
Last year, the Democratic Party announced its intention to include climate change propaganda in the curriculum for grades K-12. The party’s official platform said children across the country should be taught “climate literacy,” which means they will be told what to believe is true about climate change and what they should reject as “misinformation.”
“Democrats believe we can and must do better for our children, our educators, and our country,” said the party’s website. “We are committed to making the investments our students and teachers need to build equity and safeguard humanity in our educational system and guarantee every child can receive a great education. To this end, we support K-12 instruction in civics and climate literacy. We will support evidence-based programs and pedagogical approaches, including assessments that consider the well-being of the whole student and recognize the range of ways students can demonstrate learning.”
In another place, the Democrats say they “will equip students with the knowledge and skills to understand complex scientific issues, counter the rising tide of denialism by promoting environmental and climate literacy, and reverse the Trump Administration’s cuts to the National Environmental Education Act.”
In other words, climate literacy teaches students that the climate change narrative is “science” and that any arguments against it—no matter how scientific—are “denialism.”
