Abortion doctors at Harris rally freeze during medical emergency
A group of abortion doctors at a Kamala Harris rally Friday froze when an audience member reportedly suffered a medical emergency.
Dr. Richard Todd Ivey, an abortionist practicing as an OB/GYN for 25 years, was addressing the crowd. He was pushing claims about “women becoming severely ill and dying” due to lack of abortion, even though all states permit abortion to be performed if it will save the mother’s life.
As he was speaking, a member of the audience shouted for a medic. The doctors on stage looked around but made no move to respond to the emergency. Dr. Ivey tried to proceed with his speech but was eventually forced to acknowledge the health crisis.
“I think someone needs some medical assistance over here,” he pointed out casually.
Moments later the crowd cheered and a female physician told Ivey “they’re okay,” at which point Ivey continued speaking.
Public response
The incident drew mockery and criticism from social media users.
“This is the Kamala campaign in a nutshell,” wrote political commentator and influencer Joey Mannarino. “She brought up all these doctors to say how much they love and support abortion. Someone in the crowd had a medical emergency and called for medics. Not one of the abortion doctors helped them. Spot on.”
“They only know how to violently end life, not preserve it,” commented The Federalist Editor-in-Chief Mollie Hemingway.
“If you’re wondering what it’s like to go to Planned Parenthood looking for help from ‘doctors’, it looks alot [sic] like this,” wrote another user.
Like Mannarino, some felt the incident was typical of the Harris campaign, which is known for its artifice.
Harris, for example, is fond of making statements in favor of bodily autonomy. During her debate with Donald Trump, she said: “The freedom to make decisions about one's own body should not be made by the government.” At the same time, however, Harris maintains a strict COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
